چکیده

ABSTRACT This study aimed to determine the efficacy and parasite resistance of levamisole (LV) ivermectin (IVM) in beef cattle naturally infected with gastrointestinal nematodes, as well effect on liveweight gain a tropical wet region Oaxaca, Mexico. From November 2019 January 2020, sixty-six grazing calves were randomly allocated into three groups twenty-two animals each, treated LV or IVM an untreated control group (day 0). Feces collected 1 day before treatment 15 days after treatment. The from each animal was recorded at 0, 15, 30 45 post presented highest reduction eggs per gram (EPG) feces, followed by group. Resistance detected, although also suspected. had significantly higher effective 93.5%, resulting increase (P<0.05) 16.1kg, (92.4%) 17.1kg, compared A significant (P < 0.05) negative correlation observed between EPG weight for ( = -0.46) -0.32). showed lack against adequate capacity but detrimental effects growth performance cattle.

Rumen fermentation and liveweight gain in beef cattle treated with monensin and grazing lush forage.

OBJECTIVE To determine the prevalence of subacute rumen acidosis (SARA) in beef cattle grazing lush pasture and the effect of monensin on reducing SARA and improving animal performance. DESIGN Commercial Angus and Murray Grey steers received a monensin slow-release capsule (n = 19) or remained untreated (n = 19). Cattle grazed an oats crop or tetraploid ryegrass pasture for a total of 91 days...

Anthelmintic resistance in gastrointestinal nematodes of beef cattle in the state of Rio Grande do Sul, Brazil

Gastrointestinal nematodes resistant to anthelmintics have been reported in several regions of Brazil, and they may be associated with economic losses for the cattle industry. This study aimed to evaluate the resistance status of gastrointestinal nematodes from naturally infected beef cattle to several commercially available anthelmintics, as well as to test the efficacy of combinations of anth...

Modelling the effect of nematode parasites on the liveweight gain of lambs grazing alternately with cattle

A dynamic model for nematode parasites in lambs which links their adult parasite burden with liveweight gain was extended to investigate alternate grazing with cattle to provide relatively larval-free pasture for finishing lambs. Liveweight performance of weaned lambs was tracked fortnightly under rotational grazing using three cattle:sheep ratios, with three initial parasite burdens and two in...

Control of gastrointestinal nematodes in organic beef cattle through grazing management

Gastrointestinal nematodes (GIN) are a major health and economic risk factor in ruminant production in organic and conventional farms (Thamsborg et al., 1999). Fattening of organic beef cattle (OBC) on pasture is an emerging area for organic farmers in Switzerland, which partly compensates the declining development in dairy production. So far, there are no data available about the parasitic sta...
